Heart Full Of Rain
"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."--Proverbs 29:2
I like rain more than most people. I don't consider it an inconvenience. It has always been miraculous to me--water falling from the sky to make everything okay. Too much water is not good. We know this. Growing up on sandy Long Island, I thought every place was bone dry an hour after the sun came out. I used to just watch the water being sucked into the sand. You could see it; you could hear it. A mud puddle was a thing of joy to the kids in my neighborhood; the stars had to align just right for one to come into existence.
But it rains in my heart all the time these days. My country is being taken away from me. These two think "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is all for them.
By hook or by crook, a bully has ascended to the highest office in the land. He is boorish, under-educated, sadistic, rude, and criminal. He has plenty of company. His enablers and partisans are legion. They don't seem to care that what they are doing will hurt our nation for generations. When everything has always been okay for you, it must seem as though things will always be okay for you.
Not so. I choose faith. You may be an atheist, but I hope you believe in our democracy. It has never been so completely and effectively threatened.
A Republican lawmaker can call Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez "a fucking bitch," and still claim "God and Country!" Yoho went way low with his smarmy, smirky 'apology.' How long are we gonna put up with this crap?
These people will stop at nothing to turn us into a nation of indentured servants to the One Percent. I find myself doing a whole lotta 'white people-ing" these days. It is because I know with the deepest certitude that the only reason Trump has gotten this far is because there are still enough white people who don't want to take him to task in public. Telling him he's a liar is characterized as 'brutal,' when really, it is simply factual! The president of the United States (I'll capitalize it again when he is out of office) is gurgling with glee that he 'passed' a test of basic cognition. The Democrats are not demanding his ouster.
AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, THE DEMS ARE COMPLICIT.
Why isn't every lawmaker out here getting gassed like the mayor of Portland? Maybe he's inept, and his people are mad at him, but the man took a face full of tear gas, and now he has a brand-new point of view.
Eventually, the veterans are going to assemble to beat back the Trump Shock Troops. It cannot happen soon enough. They did not know what to DO with Chris David the Seabee. It's time for them to reconnoiter in front of the Wall of Moms and the LeafBlower Corps.
Chris David is a hero to me. Soft-spoken for all his size, he just wanted to "Ask some questions," This is basic. When Americans take a run at anything, they begin with questions. Donald Trump views this as hostile. He is weak and scared and holding too much power.
Trump is rolling out his junta nationwide.
There is not much time left to stop it. Unless the actual, factual REAL military rises up and says "no more," this will not stop.
He claims he isn't "made of steel," but this looks pretty close to it. Thank you, sir.
