What's Bugging Boggy Billy Barr?

What ails the Attorney General of the United States?What is wrong with this man? William Barr is a rogue actor. He has imperiled the rule of law in America. The rule of law is one of the most basic tenets of democracy. It hardly ever works for black people (I've had a jury trial for simple assault pending for nearly two years.), but we still believe in it. When it stops working for white people, attention must be paid. My people have a saying: "When it rains on white people, black folk drown." Well, it is hailing sideways injustice, white people. What are you gonna do besides report upon it? If black people, in any wise, perpetrated a nanospeck of the criming done to date by the Trump administration, we would ALL be in private, for-profit PRISON. Straight up. Barr is flouting every norm of American jurisprudence with impunity--which is when you act without fear of punishment.We know this man. Black people know Billy Barr well. He is the incompetent beneficiary of nepotism. He is the obnoxious bystander itching to escalate a confrontation. He is the overbearing "glad he ain't my dad" parent of the bully down the street. He is the shop owner who moonlights as a cross-burning bigot. He is the landlord. The bill collector. The hiring manager. Bill Barr The Car Dealer. Bill Barr The Mortgage Broker.  Bill Barr is white privilege weaponized. His perfidy is calculated, informed, and enabled by entrenched social norms in America. His high-minded superiority is deep-rooted as well. He has the Greek Pantheon on his side: "Themis is untranslatable. A gift of the gods and a mark of civilized existence, sometimes it means right custom, proper procedure, social order, and sometimes merely the will of the gods (as revealed by an omen, for example) with little of the idea of right."[2] The law is the perfect vehicle for the systematic, methodical dismantling of itself. If the top law enforcement officer in the land lies his way into that job, and then proceeds to hollow out the workforce, and to eviscerate the influence and authority of prosecutorial jurisdictions with the president's approval and consent, who is left to stop him? White people do not seem to be particularly alarmed by these developments. They're too busy turning over mask displays at Target and accosting homeowners on their own property. William Barr fired and demoted United States Attorneys General. William Barr meddled in open Justice Department investigations. William Barr oversaw the freeing of Michael Flynn and Roger Stone. William Barr turned the military upon peaceful protesters. He still has his job.  |
